but lately ive been in a situation where ive been whoring out what skill i have to pay rent. i moved recently to san francisco (from phila area, from ireland, from santa cruz cali, its been a weird year n a half now)... and i have to admit i kindof like this city. Ive met some good people so far, and hope to meet more. its so fun to get to know new people in a brand new environment, just strange how fate can bring certain people together that might otherwise have never had an opportunity to know that the other even existed. the ubiquitous 'they' in the crowd suddenly turn into individuals you call your friends.
so anyhow, been freelancing for a bit now, tough to find full time work aorund this time of year and this part of the woods... which means no dedicated nights to working on my own work... just been kinda keeping up witht he bills when possible.
ill have some updates when more work gets finished. ill continue ranting about this new city that i would have never imaginged living in when the urge strikes me!

Your tutorial on spriteart.com was how I first got my start working with pixels. And that changed my life forever. Most people say that sarcastically, but I really mean it. Before that fateful day, I had no artistic talent, in any medium, whatsoever. Hand me a pencil and paper, and I draw stick figures every time, because that's all I can draw. But I read your tutorial, and suddenly, just like that, my artistic potential was unlocked. Something about sprite art just clicked with me. For the first time in my life, I could take the images that had been in my head for so long, and, and /draw/ them. Granted, I'm still not anywhere /near/ your caliber, but I'm so grateful to have any artistic ability at all, when before I had none, that I barely know what to do with it.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is THANK YOU. Sorry for the long speech, but when I saw that you were on DA, I was so excited that I just had to say thank you.

Pixel art is a little like trying to play connect the dots when you can only use 30, 60, and 90 degree angles.
I love the pixel art, and I love your website (I used the tutorials all the time), but it seems like you've disappeared...
I read the journal, but that was two and a half years ago...
